Matcha Iri Genmaicha is green tea leaves mixed with roasted rice and powdered Matcha tea.
This exquisite Japanese rice tea is dusted with ceremonial powdered Matcha tea, hence called "Matcha Iri Genmaicha." To soften the flavor, Japanese Bancha tea leaves are used, which, coming from late summer harvests, acquire distinct grassy sweetness with very little bitterness. The powdered Matcha enriches the brew with umami flavors reminiscent of nori seaweed used in Sushi, while the roasted Genmai rice adds notes of toasted crackers. The appearance of the tea is very interesting, as the Matcha covering the leaves and rice gives it an intensely green, bright color.
